Q: What sourceport supported?
Only the official OA engine git. Since 2014, there had been major engine improvements that include mod-compatible hor+ widescreen, alternative overbrights, flare optimizations, dynamic vertex light, particle systems, mod/s3m/it/xm playback (via xmp) and more (that are only found in this engine).

Q: Is OA dead?
as of March 2025, no. Note that site activity/availability/git activity != local/production progress.

Corporate genAI harvesting probably did it - they DDOS pages to train their plagiarizing blob inflating the access logs until the space is gone. (AWS, OpenAI and Alibaba are the biggest offenders)

Not yet. The current release ended up being a mess with major technical debt, so creative isolation to set a direction is neccessary for the time being.
Q: How do I run this on Windows 98/ME?
For the 0.8.8 release, use KernelEx. You can also compile the current git engine in MinGW 4.7.2 with ReactOS' wspiapi.h replacement headers to make a proper Win9x build.
Q: How do I run this on 3dfx Voodoo Graphics / 3Dfx Voodoo2?
Use the MesaFX GL, place the MesaFX Opengl32.dll in the OpenArena folder and run. You could also copy 3dfxvgl.dll over as opengl32.dll, but that may have more bugs.
